[Inner Circle(이너 써클)]은 1968년에 결성되어 오랜기간 활동을 하고 있는 [Reggae(레게)] 밴드이다. [Reggae] 음악하면 자메이카와 더불어 뜨거운 태양이 떠오를 정도로 여름을 대표하는 리듬이기도 하다. 1994년 발매된 앨범 [Reggae Dancer]에 수록되었던 [Games People Play]는 미국 빌보드 싱글차트 84위까지 랭킹된 곡이다 [Inner Circle]은 정통 리듬 [Reggae]에 록과 소울을 가미하여 보다 세련된 리듬을 구사하는 그룹이며 [Reggae]의 매력 즉, 단순하면서도 흥겨운 리듬속에서도 절대 심각하지 않게 사회에 대한 냉정한 비판을 하고 있는 점을 잘 보여주는 그룹이다.

 

[Will Smith(윌스미스)] 주연 영화 [Bad Boys(나쁜 녀석들)] O.S.T로도 잘 알려진 [Inner Circle]은 [Ian Lewis(이언 루이스)]와 [Roger Lewis(로저 루이스)] 형제를 주축으로 다른 3명의 뮤지션과 함께 1968년에 [Reggae]의 종주국 자메이카 킹스턴에서 결성됐다. 그들은 시작부터 인기를 얻었고 [North Coast(노쓰 코스트)] 호텔 라운지에서 훌륭한 라이브 연주를 갖기도 하였다. 인기 있는 솔로 아티스트 [Jacob Miller(제이콥 밀러)]가 [Lewis] 형제와 함께 할 때인 70년대 초에 세 명의 다른 연주가들인 [Cooper(쿠퍼)], [Coore(쿠어)], [Daly(데일리)]는 그들의 그룹 [Third World]를 떠났다.

 

성실한 [Rastafarian(라스타파리안)]인 [Jacob Miller]는 밴드의 연출을 바꾸었고 곧 그들은 인기있는 [Reggae] 히트곡들을 연주하였다. 그들은 또한 자신들의 곡을 쓰기도 하였다. 70년대 중반에 [Inner Circle]은 미국 디스코 밴드 [KC And The Sunshine Band]와 함께 녹음 작업을 했다. 1980년 [Davis]는 비극적 사고로 살해 당했다. [Lewis] 형제는 마이애미로 가서 그들의 스튜디오를 오픈했다. 결과적으로 그들은 새로운 리드 싱어 [Carlton Coffey(칼튼 코피)]와 함께 다시 결합해 90년대 초에 [Sweat(A La La La La Long)]으로 성공을 거뒀다. 그들은 이어 [Bad Boy]를 발표했고 그 곡은 메이저 히트를 기록했다. 그들은 1998년 [Speak My Language]를 발표했다.
